Dale Leo Bishop …

From today’s Daily Journal …
Dale Leo Bishop’s mother is asking anyone opposed to his execution tonight to ask Gov. Haley Barbour for mercy.

Bishop is scheduled to die by lethal injection at 6 p.m. for his role in the 1998 claw hammer murder-kidnapping of Marcus Gentry of Fulton.

  1. Bishop has already lived ten years longer than his vcictim. It would be a travesty for this to drag on any longer! There are plenty more on Death Row that need to meet their Creator. Hopefully, they have confessed and repented of their sins, because if not,
    Hell Fire awaits them.

  2. I think this is abhorrent – The US should follow the EU and ban state pre-meditated murder.

It obviously is no deterrent to Murder and the whole process is flawed and cruel.

  3. I DO think that the consequence of death IS a deterrent. Just think what the murder rate would be if there were not such a consequence.

I hope that they do execute this man. He already had a rap sheet with a history of violence and no regard to human life already. His crime was grisly!

  4. Ummm…he ASKED the judge to put him to death. He’s had plenty of time to change his mind and claim he was crazy. I know mothers always love their sons but I think she is seriously reaching when she asks the public for help.

  5. The victim is already with the True Judge, God, It is our duty to send him to face God and the one he murdered, they are already there. Did Bishop show any mercy to his victim?
If we allow murders to live we are not only showing others that they can do it too and live a long life in jail, but that we are not following God’s instruction
the 6th Commandment; Thou shall not kill (murder)
    murder=premedatated killing of another.

God bless those who follow the word of God…

  6. Honestly He ask for this, and now his wish is being granted!!! Personally I think he is getting just what he deserves! And the other parties that participated should be getting the same thing!!! HE showed to mercy to human life so why should they?!!!!

  7. I wish we would go back to the “COURT YARD HANGINGS”, maybe then crime rates would drop and people would have more respect for another persons life.
I pray that Dale has made peace with God and has asked for forgiveness, but he made his choice the night this took place and took Marks choice from him. It all boils down to taking responsibility for your actions and this day should be his last!
Tangie, my prayers are with you and your family during this and I also pray for his family also. I know everyone involved must be going through many emotions today.

    God Be With You All!

  8. This man held the victim down while another man beat the him to death with a hammer!!! He asked to be put to death! Why in the world would anyone with a brain in their head want to save this murders life! I am so sick and tired of brainless people begging for the life of a murder! This newspaper is a disgrace to NE MS and if you guy in this area knew just what all they did not inform you correctly on you would really be amazed! I have read the caption on the top of their front page and they do not conduct their business based on their caption! They are a joke!!

  9. He should have been put to death slowly just as he assisted in the death of Marcus. Eye for an Eye!!! His mother obviously is dillusional. Many of us fail to put ourself in others places. If it were her son who was HORRIBLY & SLOWLY murdered she would be the first one to hound the governor to execute the man responisble.
    JUSTICE MUST BE DONE!!!!!!!

  10. My husband was a friend of Mark’s. This was devastating to many. I’m sure this is hard for Bishop’s mother, but exactly how do you think Mark’s mother felt knowing how her son died? Who was there to plead for his life?? NO ONE? Was it justice the way they heartlessly beat him to death? NO! This man is getting exactly what he deserves. The death penalty should be carried out more often on murderers and many others who commit terrible crimes as this. But it should be done immediately following not 10 years later!! I agree with the above poster. We should go back to courtyard hangings or take them out to the edge of town and stone them to death like they did in the bible days. It’s just a shame that the other participant didn’t get the death penalty also!

  11. I agree with Sharon and everyone else that says Bishop is getting what he deserves. However, I think the US should use the ideas of other countries, such as “An Eye for an Eye”. If Bishop thinks lethal injection hurts, maybe they should tie him down and beat him with a claw hammer. Let his mom and him think about that! Maybe His mother should consider what exactly her son did! What would she want if the situation was reversed? I bet that could open her eyes a little bit. But I bet it won’t! If anyone calls or emails the governor to support this woman they might as well be supporting the crime that has been commited here, and on the other hand, if the Governor stays this execution, I will have an even harder time respecting his decision making abilities.
