Houston man held without bond in sexual assault on MSU student
STARKVILLE (AP) - A Houston, Miss. man has been denied bond on multiple charges related to the 2007 sexual assault of a Mississippi State University student.
Johnny Griffis, 30, was arraigned on charges of rape, sexual battery and kidnapping in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court on Wednesday.

BILOXI, Miss. (AP) – The state’s new insurance commissioner says Mississippi Gulf Coast residents can expect an insurance rate increase this year.

Columbus school bond issue vote Tuesday
COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) - Lowndes County voters will decide the fate of a $22 million school bond issue Tuesday.
Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
In order to pass, 60 percent of those voting must approve the bond issue.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour will outline his legislative priorities tonight during his State of the State address.
