A 24-year-old Rienzi man died after being run over by an automoblie early Saturday morning in the Jumpertown community.
Shane Steen of CR 8470 Rienzi was found dead at 2:45 a.m., according to Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar.
Benjamin Maldonado Jr., 26, was arrested and charged with manslaughter and culpable negligence in connection with the incident. His bond was set at $250,000. Maldonado is presently free on bond. The case will be presented to the October Grand Jury and the charges possibly upgraded at that time or additional charges may be forthcoming, Tolar said.

It is a shame. A man trying to protect his property, wife, and child. And some (insert expletive here) tries to steal his property, then beats and kills him. What is wrong with this world today????
What is wrong with this world is it is catered to the guilty and the victims continue to be victimized long after the actions. As if seeing your husband being dragged down the road in front of you and ran over and killed while you are running behind it screaming to please let him go isn’t enough, the man who did it, still drives by and honks his horn at the family!
shane was a great father to darbie and a close personal friend of mine and was also married to my cousin,brandi. it is an absolute shame that billy sartin even alowd him out on a property bond.shane is layen 6 feet in the ground right now and ben is home with his wife and child. and mansloughter? three thugs where trying to steel the boys 4 wheeler and when he cought them he was killed.if thats not murder,what is? tryen to prtect his wife and child and property.theres probley a million other people who deseved this. shane wasnt one of them

This happened in july and the ben is still out free and never been behind bars. Has it even gone 2 court yet. How do u kill someone and just walk free for almost a year. If u get caught with a beer they will throw u straight in jail. But if u kill someone u walk free. What is wrong with our justice system.
We have NO justice system in Prentiss county….It’s not what you do or don’t do, it’s who you are and this family thinks they own the county….paying off judges, bribing jurors, stealing your possessions, selling and manufacturing drugs.. This is the family business.
This happened in july and he still is out free. How do u kill someone and walk free? If you get caught with a beer you can’t get out of jail but if you kill someone you get 2 continue 2 live your daily life. What is wrong with our justice system? What about the victims family? NO, this man has never gone to jail! He’s finally seen the inside of a courtroom this past week (FOR THE FIRST TIME REGARDING THIS!!! HE WAS NEVER EVEN PLACED IN HANDCUFFS!!) and his trial ended up being declared a mistrial. ELEVEN jurors voted him GUILTY and ONE HARD HEARTED person has made it to where this family is going to have to endure another trial…Of course, this is your typical Prentiss County where no one ever has to pay for the evil they do, so naturally, his family got to the jurors and either bribed them or scared them into deadlocking (Of course now, they are all very fine “Christians”) ROFL!!! . After the Judge heard this, he called them into his chambers where the juror neither confirmed it or denied it. He had no choice but to then declare a mistrial. I hate Prentiss county!!! There is NO law there and never has been! It doens’t matter what violent crimes you do, you can always find a way to pay out of it, which is what this particular family has been doing for years. It only worked so long onher son though. He is fianally at home where he belongs….in PARCHMEN! Ben’s day is coming soon!!
