TUPELO – Two Attala County men are being held in the Lee County Jail on $1 million bonds in connection with a Thursday kidnapping. Leonard Brown, 23, of Silas and Manuel March, 18, of West were arrested by Tupelo police officers after they allegedly kidnapped Brown’s sister-in-law and her 5-month-old baby from an apartment on Garfield Street Thursday morning.
Tupelo Police Capt. Bart Aguirre said the men came to Tupelo Wednesday looking for Brown’s estranged wife, who was in a local shelter with their children. Aguirre said the two men allegedly slept in their car Wednesday after attempts to locate the wife were unsuccessful.
The sister-in-law and the baby were unharmed.
